Inshore fishing in our Southern Region from Palm Beach to Pompano Beach is great for Snook, Tarpon, Barracuda and Jack Crevalle. The calm waters in the intracoastal waterway make kayak fishing a breeze for any angler. Tackle includes light to medium spinning rod and reels with 15-30 lb test line. These fish are targeted along seawalls, docks, mangrove shorelines, bridges, spillways and the inlet. Pulling a big snook from a dock or jumping a tarpon under a bridge is an exciting way to spend the day or night.
Fishing in our northern region from Jupiter to Stuart will allow you to chase a few more inshore species. Snook, Redfish, Seatrout, Tarpon, Tripletail, Flounder, Pompano and Sheepshead are all added to the list of what is a common catch in the Indian River Lagoon.Tarpon are the biggest gamefish in our inshore fishery. They can be caught year round, but best times are April to November. Tarpon can weigh anywhere from 10-100lbs in the river and intracoastal waterway. Snook, Redfish, Tripletail and Pompano are great table fare.
